Genre fiction for consumption

Hey REader
Do you like Free Things?
Of course you do, that's why I strive to provide consistent, quality fiction to my newsletter subscribers each month.
Aside from all latest updates and happenings regarding the Clay Vermulm Fiction realm and occasional updates about my beloved cat, subscribing to my newsletter will give you access to monthly horror content which is completely exclusive to you.
Don't believe me? Well, then you better give that button a click and see the truth for yourself. I wouldn't want you thinking I'm a liar.
What have you gotten yourself into?
Hello Reader and welcome to my favorite place in the world.
What you've stumbled upon here is the portal into my creative mind. As the primary platform on which I share my writing, this website is where I most intimately lay my imagination bare for anyone who enjoys reading horror and fantasy.
That might seem melodramatic, and perhaps it is, but that doesn't necessarily make it untrue. I do pour my heart and soul into my writing, which means I write a lot. If you are a reader of the aforementioned genres, it is entirely possible, nay, highly probable, that I have written something you will enjoy.
What have you got to lose? The button to the left will take you to my newsletter. After you sign up, you'll immediately begin receiving free fiction to read, and that free stuff will continue to show up each month.
I love my work, and I hope you will too. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

So, What Else is on Here?
Glad I asked for you...
Surely, you were about to ask, right? Well, no need. I've taken care of your light work.
Below are some of the creative outlets in which you can indulge at Clay Vermulm Fiction.
First and foremost, I publish fiction. I write regularly in the horror, sci-fi, and fantasy genres. When I self-publish, I post those stories on the Fiction page of this website. For the moment, all of my self-published fiction can be found exclusively there.
Simply writing constant stories is not always enough to scratch my writing itch, thus, I also publish a fantasy serial titled Real Heroes on a Real Quest. Here's the blurb for the story, if it sounds like something you'd enjoy, just click here to go check out the first three episodes for free!
The promised blurbage:
The land of Borne is torn by civil war, three kings arise and grapple for control of the throne, as dark magic and creatures begin to emerge from the shadows; but our heroes have no time for all that. They are on a quest of categorical importance.
Well, that must be it then...
That, dear reader, is where you are gladly mistaken.
Aside from publishing fiction, I also host a podcast called Sinister Soup on which you can hear lively debates and discussions regarding all things genre fiction!
The show works like this: Every Monday, we publish a regular episode in which we (my cohost/brother Travis and I), shout out fellow indie artists and creators, debate popular horror, sci-fi, or fantasy novels and films, and drink tasty beer.
That sounds pretty swell, right? I agree, and fortunately, it's super easy to find. You can either click the button labeled Podcast on the top menu, or you can simply click here.
Am I sensing a Pattern here?
That you are, this page is not only an artistic medium of expression, it is also where I sell all my awesome stuff and I know my readers don't have time to be bandying about with rhetorical questions. Just as I write stories for you, I ask and answer questions for you.
So, all the introductory work is done. You've joined the newsletter, you've decided to peruse the Fiction, Blog, and Podcast pages of the site, and you've got some things to say to me. If you do, please reach out. I truly would LOVE to hear from you. The Get in Touch page of this site is a direct link to me and I always answer my reader's mail.
Mildly sarcastic tone aside, I truly appreciate anyone who takes the time to read my writing. Even if all you've read thus far is this mediocre website copy, thank you very much.
I hope you find what you are looking for here at Clay Vermulm Fiction, and if you don't, shoot me an email. I might just write that next.

Who is this "Clay" guy?
If you are still scrolling down this page, then perhaps you are one of those people who likes a slice of author life with your fiction. If so, here is my bio:
Born on the frigid, windswept plains of Cut Bank, Montana, Clay has now set down proverbial stakes in the Pacific Northwest where he likes to climb rocks on the days it's not raining. For the other ninety-eight percent of the year, he enjoys writing, reading, and playing board games with his partner Deanna as his cat criticizes his every life decision from her carpeted tree palace.
Clay decided to turn his writing hobby into a writing career in November of 2020. Since then, he has written thousands of words, eight short stories, two novels, and his novella Crevasse, which was picked up by City Stone publishing in November 2021 (November is apparently a good month).
Aside from writing, Clay has also created and produced one season of his podcast Sinister Soup, climbed Half Dome in Yosemite Valley and gotten engaged to the love of his life (also in November, for the record). If you want to know more than that, you'll have to join his newsletter.
